San Francisco is located on the west coast of the United States at the north end of the San Francisco peninsula.  It  includes significant stretches of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, as well as several scenic islands such as Alcatraz and Treasure Island, within its boundaries. 

The Port of San Francisco is the premier gateway to the world, hosting over 100 cruise ship calls and more than 400,000 passengers every year at Pier 27 James R. Herman Cruise Terminal and Pier 35 on The Embarcadero.

There are more than 220 parks in San Francisco.  The largest and best-known is Golden Gate Park, which stretches from the city center west to the Pacific Ocean.  There are many attractions to visit inside the park, such as the Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers, San Francisco Botanical Garden, DeYoung Fine Arts Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences Museum.
